Definitely think the price is too high. I just bought a pristine 8K mile 02Z with a lot of tasteful mods for $25K. There are a lot of very nice corvettes out there going for less.
The keyword is "ASKING" He can ask for $10000000 if he wants.. You never know.. Some drunk lottery redneck may pay it.. He may feth 23-24k for it.. This is a horrible time for selling cars and a great time for buyers to pick and choose...

My brother called the guy and offered him 23K. Immediately, the seller responded with a big time attitude, "I'm insulted that you would lowball me like that, absolutely insulted!!!"
I talked to a buddy of mine who's a senior buyer for carmax, and he told me that 23K isn't low balling. Anyhow, the seller was a complete *******. Looks to be a very nice car, though. Oh well.....

The seller must be a CF member cuz he sounds like he hasn't accepted that Corvette prices are going down.
Tell your brother next time to say I'm sorry, but I was only offering what I think the car is worth.

First find out how much thread is left on the tires.
To the OP good luck in your search. People get weird when they sell things that they are emotionally attached to. Just move on to the next car. There are great deals out there.
If it helps, I paid $245oo for my Quicksilver 03z w/ 17k miles on it about 4-5 months ago. Guy was asking $29k. Locally, C5 prices have trickled south, but the Z06 has held steady in the $25+ range as of late. Silver tends to be worth less when compared to Black or Red. It's all a matter of taste/preference.

I'm a bit biased, 2002 Quicksilver Z06 = priceless! I paid $29.5K (he was asking 32K) with 24K miles but that was three years ago. Good luck with your purchase!

A coworker of mine is looking for a 2002 Camaro SS convertible and everything he finds has 70k miles with a $17k price tag. I guess I should tell him to get a 18k mile Z06 for $18k.
You can't negotiate over the phone...If I were selling, my price is my price until someone shows up to my door to negotiate. I've sold many cars, and too many people want to just waste your time over the phone and offer money that they don't even have access to. He had an attitude over the phone, but he may change his attitude if you showed up with $23K cash ready to drive off on the spot. Just my $0.02...
david426- good point! the Z06's that I am seeing here in the valley (Arizona metro phoenix) are around 18,xxx-25,xxx (and that includes 04's and even a Le Mans edition!).
let's get the price of the C5 Z back to where it belongs - $32K
I agree. There is a $20K delta on KBB between the '04 Z to '06 Z. Absolutely nuts and out of the ballpark! The C6 Z is a good car, but the extra 100 horses don't warrant that kind of price delta. Especially when the suspension on the C5 Z is better. The C6 Z is simply over-engineered. And on a track the extra 100 horses are almost useless.
Your offer was more than reasonable. I went through the same thing of calling people who got angry that I offered $22-23k for their Zs. They told me I'd never find one that wasn't wrecked for that price. A few weeks later I found a mint, one owner 02Z with 19.5k miles on it for $22,500, local. Patience always pays off.
