I took the Z06 to Spokane last night to race my friends 2009 GT-R. I got my butt handed to me, but had a great time. The DA was 6567 feet, geez. She ran an 11.96 at an ungodly 121 MPH. geezz
I ran a best of 12.94 at 111.94 with a 2.14 60 foot and zero traction on street tires. Theoretical for that DA and stock HP is 111 mph. I was consistent in that I ran 111.94, 110.87, 110.73, 111.3, 110.51 & 110.73 with an ET range of 12.941 to 13.20.
My car is bone stock down to the paper filter. That was the deal. She wanted to run me stock vs stock. Apparently my mouth is much faster than my car. Next time out this fall my car will be properly prepared and we will see if I can catch her!!
First, look at the difference in cost between your vehicles, yours obviously being cheaper. Now, take that difference and spend it on mods, until your vehicle both cost the same. Last, give her a thumbs up as you blow by in the 10s.
All true statements. She could have eaten a sandwich while driving it down the track. She is in her 50's with no kids and can afford it. She drives it to work and autocrosses it so I give her huge kudos for not just babying it.
My car is also setup for auto-x so it has a very stiff suspension with Koni yellows and a Sam Strano front bar and end links. I did not change the setup to drag race which may have helped a little.
We will run at a lower elevation track in the fall. I will have DR's, Vararam and an exhaust by then. That should be a few MPH in my corner!!
Some of her relatives came out to watch and two of her female cousins came over and told me under there breath that they thought my car was much nicer looking!

Bigger kudos to you for sharing that story truthfully and honestly, with no malice towards her

The altitude killed you. Turbos kick *** at altitude(even 6000ft) over your normally aspirated Z06. Get the GT-R down to sea level to level the playing field and you will have full power on tap.
nothing that a check book wont cure...ship that car to your closest tuner and install a stroker or blower....that will take car of any future issues with the gtr
Corrected to sea level, the MPH would be 117.5. The DA was ridiculous for that day. I will be ready for the next get together. The physical altitude is 2228 feet, but with temps in the 70's and low BP, 6500 feet is what it came out to.
The only other track is at 1200 feet and we will wait for cold weather and get under 1000 feet DA and I should close the gap a bunch.
I have over 1500 runs down the strip in various cars. Drag radials will even it up a bunch.
I actually really like the look of the GT-R, got to see my first one in person and the back end is UGLY as SIN! But the rest of the car I think looks pretty good.
