Default Lift purchase considerations

Looking at a new house with an external garage. I plan at putting in two post lift.

What are some of the considerations besides height, width for installing a lift. There is a concrete floor...but how thick does it have to be? Power? GFI's?

The garage was professionally build and is just under 600 sqr ft. It is 32' x 19' wide x 10.5' high. Roll up doors front and back.

Bendpak spx7 FTW

The BEST lift, imo
No posts,park on it,open center design,wheels off the ground when lifted for tire change etc.,less intrusive of the rest of your garage space.

Negatives=price

Here is an old thread on lifts,check it out

The lift you select may have different specifications for the concrete. For my previous two post 9,000# BEND PAK, they specified 4" of fully cured 3,000 psi concrete.

But, the spec is also dependent on the lift that you select...

http://www.bendpak.com/files/378_882802654.pdf

I always select 220v because I use my lifts a lot and it's more efficient. Many manufacturers offer 110v, 220v or even portable 12v power sources.

If you select BEND PAK, they use a dual locking system which requires an air supply source from a compressor. It doesn't have to be a huge compressor, but that's always good for a home shop.

You also need to decide if you want a symmetric or asymmetric lift (unequal or equal length arms)...and whether you want the cable to run under a plate on the floor or over head (clear floor).

You definitely want lots of power outlets (110v and 220v) in a shop and all on GFI (check your local codes), lots of florescent lighting, a hot/cold water sink, furnace, small refrigerator, stereo, phone, cable/satellite (we are dreaming here)...

I have a Complete Hydraulic 2 post lift. LOVE IT! Great Price and I think it only requires 6" thick of concrete. I of Course dug a huge hole that was 14" deep and I used 3/4 J-Bolts. Over did it, but o'well. heres a couple of pics
