Well, I finally did it. I had never used the clay bar on my 99 FRC before this weekend. It was much easier than I had anticipated. I used Adam's Clay Bar. Actually, I won a bottle Adams Detail spray as a door prize in a car show. Since that time, I have gone exclusively to their products. After the clay bar, I used Adams Buttery Wax and then a coat of their Glaze spray. Great results. It is Adams products for me from here on out. The paint on this 99 FRC is the original paint. It looks better than some of the new paint I have seen on some of the 2008 vetts!
I finally got up the nerve to try the clay bar about a year ago on my two '99 black Vettes. Wow. It was easier than expected and I was amazed at the results. I was also amazed at how easy polishing and waxing the car was afterwards.
I used the Meguiar’s products and can't imagine how more expensive products could do any better. If they can, the results must be out of this world.
Pinnacle is a high end car care company(waxes,polishes...)
I googled the Pinnacle car products but can't imagine how anything could do better than Adams. I will try some Pinnacle products just to compare the two. Thanks for the heads up!

My car..........not yours....................Bra! I happen to like mud flaps and chrome. Apparently, you were not raised in the 50's or 60's. To each, his own!
That's telling him...!! Nice comeback and your engine bay is awesome..
What cautions? Other than don't drop it and reuse, and make sure you keep the area lubricated.I've never heard anything else
That's about it.
Some folks are not aware of the basics if they have never used it before.
Also, continually "kneed" or fold the clay and don't use a lot of pressure. Clay is basically an abrasive and I have seen it induce defects onto a car.

Yup....50's and 60's rock......cool ride ya got there.. And the garage is unbelievable...... I clay twice a year and there are a lot of good wax products with each having their own opinion.....
I remember hearing about clay for the first time several years ago. I saw the stuff and thought to myself...
"So I'm supposed to rub this $20 wad of silly putty all over my car and it's going to magically smooth out my paint? Yeah, right! What a scam!"
Well...then I finally tried it and boy was I blown away by the before/after difference. I've tried to tell others about it, but they don't understand how their paint is dirty when it "looks" so clean!
Mudflaps may not be attractive, but they prevent the paint behind the tires from being bead-blasted off, especially if you have wide and sticky tires and the tucked-in lower bodywork of a C5. Mudflaps are definitely the lesser of two evils.

i know about rock chips. i daily drive a slammed black frc with 12's on the back. and you cant see s*it in the form of rock chips, ect.
but to each their own. i guess ecklers and J.C. Whitneys gotta stay in business somehow!
I did mine two years ago with Adams clay and used his stuff exclusively since then....but....now i discovered the more high end stuff...Pinnacle etc...Adams is still good, esp the detail spray...dont like the vrt for wheels though..lil too dull...but im moving up...car looks good though..clay makes huge difference!!
