I went out to the garage this morning and I cannot get my car to shift out of Park (A4). I can push the button down but I cannot get the selector to move into "D" or "R" or anything else.
I sent Patches an email asking for a diagram showing me what needed to be done (in a previous thread he had offered this to another CF member). I received 4 different emails from him with very detailed step by step instructions and pictures. Thanks!!
I took the console and bezel out. Was able to remove the shifter boot and sort of get to the BTSI Solenoid. I ended up just unplugging it and problem was solved!!
I honestly do not know what I would do without all of the wonderful helpful people on this forum.

IDEAS!?!?!?
Thanks!
Seems to be a rash of this problem lately, I just bought a Brake Transmission Shift Lock Control Solenoid from Bob at Fichtcner Chevrolet that he ordered directly from GM Parts dropped shipped to my door in 2 days for $35.00 + shipping. Other Chevrolet dealers said I needed to buy the whole shift assembly for $350.00........ Here's a link to the post and order info: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...k-in-park.html
You can get the car in gear. there is a small lever/ fork under the boot to the right of the shifter. just take your finger and move that forward and back pressing down on it(had this problem with my 98) and it will eventually let you shift it.
Thank you and I figured out the diagrams as well - they did not show up in the e-mail but are at the top in the "ATTATCHMENTS" they opened up fine!
This is on my list of to do's - I don't get locked out but somethimes it does it and I would rather it not ever do it so that one day I don't get stuck somewhere and have to take it apart and move the lever manually
Check to make sure both brake lights light up,mine would not come out of park so I had it towed, that is all it was both lights were blown,I must have been driving around with one working when the other eventually died it lock up.Mechanic said if there is no bulb burning there is no current flow and there for the saftey device kicked in.
