When you say straight pipes, do you mean like the bullets, with no mufflers???
That's what straight pipes are. Here's a comparison to clear things up:
Borla Straight Pipes:
Magnaflow's Muffler System:
I've got the Boral Straight pipes (pictured above) and there are no mufflers or baffles, hence a true straight pipe. Maybe not true, since I still have cats but not for long.
Anyway, I've got the dyno numbers from JUST the Borla straight pipe & X-pipe in my sig below. Having no mufflers does make your car significantly louder at RPM's higher than about 2500 but if you're just putting around the parking lot it's a low hum, hardly noticable. Whack it out to 6000 and you'll grab the attention from the tri state area. lol

I think this weekend I'm going to try to get some video footage of my car to post up. It's really not THAT loud. At idle it sounds almost stock. And to be quite honest, I'd actually even like for them to be a little louder Someone told me that when I put my headers and delete the cats she'll be a banshee.
What's the price on these? I've already got a set but I'm just curious what your price will be. The two MAJOR attractive features about straight pipes:
INEXPENSIVE
and LOUD
My entire system (catback, xpipe, and installation) cost me like 360-400 bucks if I remember correctly.

Hmmmmmmmmm, can't wait to hear a clip and whether or not there is any resonance. That's why I went with the GHL in the first place! I like loud, but since mine is a DD, I can't have any resonance.

Chris,
Straight pipes pretty much have resonance, never seen a set that does not...
