Ruff racing 278 wheels bolt pattern + offset ?!?!?!
Hi guys...I read some conflicting info on the ruff racing 278 rims...do they only come in the 5x120mm bolt pattern...if yes, that is not the proper 4x4.75 of the C5. Why would people be running those?
And the offset is only 43mm for the rear 19x9.5 rims. Those with this setup, do your wheels stick out? My C5 is lowered quite a bit and I don't want to loose the fenders. Isn't the proper offset 54mm...
I had Ruff 278s last year & they fit fine with no issues, and my car is lowered on stock bolts. Discount tire did inform me that the bolt pattern isn't technically correct, and is off by .6mm. 100s of guys have installed these on Corvettes, and never had issues. The offset sit flush with the fenders. Pics:
I sold them to forum member "TwoBuells" back in October, and he also has had no issues. Also, the wheels I replaced the Ruffs with are also 5x120 bolt pattern, and still no issues.
I just put some RR 278's on my car last week (I bought them last summer). They came with some plastic hubcentric rings (that didn't fit). I was told by the installer these make them fit because the bolt pattern is somewhat universal. A lot of aftermarket wheels are like this. I've used wheels like this for 30 years and never had a problem.
As far as the offset is concerned, mine fit fine in the rear but stick out about a 1/4 in the front. I'm not please and wouldn't have bought them if I had known.
I had the 278's, they stuck out 1/2-5/8" in the front (that's w/shaved 3mm) & 1/4" on the rears. They seem to set up a little different on each car. My car was not lowered. Bolt pattern was fine. Centering rings cracked the first time when installing, but still where usable.
They look nice for the price but are not the ideal offsets.
I did read a post awhile back stating they are re-making these wheels to fit the C5 properly. Don't know how true that is, but you may want to call VQ Motoring and ask.

He was a vendor on here. I'm sure we'll hear from him soon...
