Default Need Help With C5

I have a 99 Vette that I have some questions about.

- I have a automatic that the shift indicator is broke. I took it apart today and the orange piece is broken. Is there any way to fix this or is this a part that just has to be replaced?

- My driver and passenger seats slide back and forth, like they are loose on the tracks. Do I need to purchase new tracks or is there a fix?

- I am in Pensacola, FL does anyone know a place that I can get the car tuned? Whoever had the car before has the shift points set so it won't shift unless I bring the RPMs up pretty high.

- Has anyone cut the black covers out around the fog lights and out of the louvers behind the front tires? I figured that if I got rid of those covers it will let more cool air in and let the hot air exit. Will this work?

- Last question I have for now is the side bumpers. Has anyone removed them? If I parked next to someone I understand that they will protect my doors from dings, but I don't park anywhere near people. I have seen pictures of C5's without these and I like that look better.

Any help I can get I appreciate it.

Someone may chime in on this but you can always check out the Regional Section and/or ask folks in local vette clubs.

Many have removed them. If you click Search This Forum in the upper right and type BSM removal you'll find more threads than you can imagine.

Any help I can get I appreciate it.

I've got a few Word files that discusses the rocking seat fix. If you would like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

As for the body side moldings, you can remove them by using a hair dryer to heat the two sided tape that holds them on and then using some fishing line to saw through the tape. It helps if you have a helper to pull up on the molding as you go along.

When I remove the side moldings are there any holes that have to be patched? Also has anyone ran into the problem that the paint under the molding does not match the rest of the car (faded paint or just primer under the moldings)?
