Went to a cruise in last week and our friends are telling me they can't see my brake lights or turn signals when the sun is on them. In the shade or in normal light this does not seem to be a problem. Those of you with black outs please let me know if this can be solved, thanks.
Same problem here. Just do what I do, Drive Careful!! When I use my signals, I take a look how far the car is behind me, if to close then I speed up alittle to have alittle more extra distance between us then I put my signal on, Im sure they get the signal once or twice. Also, when I make stops I make sure I start slowing down awhile back. Be careful!!
Solution: brighter bulbs or remove the gaudy, dangerous things.
Dope
Can't remove them, the wife gave them to me for Xmas. Help me out here about usiing a brighter bulb. Forgive my lack of knowledge but what bulb would I go to?
That is why i don't use them. Sure i like the look but i would hate to be the cause of a massive pile up on the beltway because of them. Only way i would run tinted lights is with LED/Halo style lights.
I used VHT Nite-Shades and no problems at all. I tested them in daylight and also at night to make sure they could be seen from 300' (NC law). When sunlight strikes any reflective surface it will do the same thing. Heck, if the sunlight hits your windshield just right you ain't seeing a darn thing. The issue that you're having are the chrome things you have on them. Look at my last pic with the flash being used and look where the light is coming through. Your chrome is covering it up.

You might on to what my problem is. I will have to pull them off and have a look, thanks.

Okay, heres an update, I just pulled the chrome covers off anf there is no difference with or without the covers. Countylawdog, a question for you. If I went to black cherry tailights will that pass? Thanks for everyones input and help!
I have Halos with the full-blackout kit from corvette enhancements.
I swapped out ALL the LEDs inside. For each light: The Tail lights are 48 individual LEDs and the brake/turn signals lights are (28) 35,000mcd 5-chip superflux LEDs (these are almost 7 times brighter than the standard LEDs that come with the halos.
my first suggestion would be to remove the taillights louvers. Reason being the reflective nature of the louvers will re-direct sunlight and blocks and already obscured output from the bulbs.
If you got whacked in the rear and the whacker said he didn't see the brake lights on the whackee, wonder what a judge or insurance company would say?
RonJ ...
Doesn't matter about the taillights, what if you were coasting and hit rough pavement and slowed down very quickly, or even downshifted your 6 speed to slow the vehicle, then there would be no lights.
If you rear end someone, you are automatically at fault.
