Compass mirror questions
Found a Gentex 221 inside rear view mirror that has a compass (us older folk need them).
It does not have a temp sensor, which is fine, since the C5's have that feature already, but includes the all important map lights and auto dimming (looks just like the standard C5 auto-dimming mirror, but has the little window for the compass).
But I do have a few questions:
1. It comes with a wedge screw type mount. Does anyone know if that mount can be used with the non-screw wedge mount in the C5? Or do I need an adapter?
2. The compass came on, but only displayed a "C". Is this normal, and all I have to do is drive around in a few circles to calibrate it? Or?
3. The Map lights are inverse (come on when they should be off, and vice-versa). Understand that there are 2 different types of map light circuits (door switch), and that a relay is probably the easy way to fix this. Being perverse, I don't take the easy way, and will probably open up the mirror to rewire it. Has anyone done this?
