Default Trade? C4 4 C5

I have a 97 coupe a4 with 28,000 miles on it. I can trade it for a 96 C4 LT4 car with a 6 spd red on red with 36,000 miles. Is it worth it? I believe the LT4 is a rare high perf. motor. 330 HP and red on red is a rare color combo.
I would trade it then sell it if I could make some money then I would but a newer C5. What do you think?

I think that's a great way to go around your azz to get to your di#k!

Seriously, how much could you sell the C4 for? You should ask the C4 guys for assistance on this, before making your decision.

They are close in value. You won't make any money on the deal. There is a low mileage LT4 in the C4 for sale section right now for $13,000.

The LT4 is a nice motor but it's not rare. There were over 6,000 of them produced in 96.

Sounds like some serious brain damage to make a little bit of money

Thanks for the respectful reply. I'll keep my C5. I'm not up on C4s so I wasn't sure, that's why I asked.

To the others who replied, I wasn't expecting to need my flame suit, I guess this forum isn't what it used to be

I only joined 8 months after you, and it's been filled with the same wit and azzhats the whole time I've been here. Makes it fun.

I didn't mean to offend, it just seemed like a crazy means to an end. And besides, any time you mention a C4 here, you need a flame suit on. I think it's in the rules somewhere . . . .

Only C4 I'd trade a '97 for is a ZR-1. Maybe.........If I had lots of booze.......maybe. C4 -> C5 was probably the biggest leap in the whole history.

Personally, I would not trade down from a C5 to a C4. The C5 is so much more fined than a C4. Just my $0.02 worth.

i'd say c3 to c4 was the biggest leap, and as to the original poster what better way to learn than asking questions, no one knows everything, although sometimes here on the forum you would find that hard to believe, now IMHO the LT4 may come of value in years to come but for a quick turnover, no, I'm sure an "exceptional" LT4,is worth more than a 97 but not enough to give up a C5, if it was the Grand Sport LT4 then yes i would go for it, but its red so unless a GS owner loved red so much he would ruin a future collectible its just a C4 LT4

I sold my 96 LT-4, 2yr ago with 98,000 mi. for $15K, granted things have gone down a lot since then, but it was kinda rare vs all the other std C4's and I may regret it 20yr from now. But it was a major step up to our C5.

Even though we all own vettes here there are a lot of azzhats that try too hard to be what they think people want them to be. If you dont think just like them they tell you about it. Who cares what other people think but on here you have to take the good with the bad. I dont suggest posting much in off topic though unless you are ready for pure evil. A Grand sport or a ZR1 would probably be the only 2 C-4`s that could pull enough money to make it worth your time.

From what I have heard, the LT-4 motor was a little underrated and was a nice engine. I have to agree, doubtful that you will make any money off the deal.

Hey Steve,
I've got a real nice Ford pino I would trade for a Lamborgini if you have one you wish to trade. I'll even throw in a set of pretty good snow tires and an old Slim Whitman 8 track!

I would not trade down unless it would be for the ZR-1. Keep the C5 buddy.

This sounds like a lot of work, but you seem to have done some background work. I'm tired just reading it, but I think if you did make this work you could be ready to buy a clean 2001 or later C-5? Just my $0.02
