This thread needs to take a new direction folks... Would you agree? We now have on board the custom creator(Quik). We have in this thread the photoshop man(02MillenniumVette).. I keep seeing people referring to the C6 Diffuser as photoshopped in the above pics. A bit of talk about the Dubai carbon fiber diffuser that got everyones hopes up awhile ago... Lets not make this too complicated folks. Please post if you like or dislike the pictures above. We need to find out what Quiks idea for attachment is so we can know if you will need a stock C5 bumper/his custom C6-C5 blend OR a tigershark. Who knows what the numbers are for stock vs. tigershark bumpers. He will have to chime in on what he can do. Lets focus on two designs for a poll... It seems to me(correct me if I'm wrong). The only real point for which we have different desire when referring to the photoshop pics of this diffuser(bumper type aside)is four tip exit or two.................

Soooooooo-four tip exit or two folks. It seems we might actually get this thing to happen if Quik can throw it down and we know he can. If the people who have shown interest will come back and post again-do you agree/disagree with my take on what we all seem to want for the look? Do you prefer four or two tip exit. I personally think the two tip exit is way more sexy. I would spend the money saved by what seems to be a ridiculously low price(Quik has a habit of that)for a corvette aesthetic, on custom re route for the two tip exit side by side.

What say you?. As soon as we get more feedback in this thread and response from Quik---- I think we should take two versions hopefully photoshopped by 02MillenniumVette, to a POLL.

I bet they are more popular than you think but I do agree that the diffuser should be designed for the stock C5 bumper also. Id just like to see one designed for the TS bumper as well since I plan on getting that rear bumper eventually.

I like the diffuser on the black C5. That, is something I would buy.

Well guy's again, im going to get this made. I have been in talks with "tbrent" as to how to approach this. We need to narrow it down to what we would like made and from there I can get the process started. If we do make these they will be made in fiberglass and carbon fiber, and I would say they will be in the low $500 range for carbon (estimate) and mid $300's for fiberglass. Anyway, yeah lets decide on what we like and go from there.

I am all for a diffuser that incorporates a centralized twin tip exhaust system. Custom exhaust will be mandatory though. I was planning on modifying my SLP Loudmouth by removing the two outer tip sections:

You will probably find that most people will want to retain their current quad tip or spaced dual tip exhaust, so a larger opening will be necessary to accommodate them:

Exhaust doesn't really matter to me much.. for the price we're talking, I would be more than happy to modify my exhaust tip setup. However, it'd probably have a larger buying crowd if those with stock exhaust could use it as well.

^^This is the starting point. The diffuser should:

1. Follow the natural indentation on the C5 rear fascia
2. Be made to look like it could have been OE on a super-high performance C5
3. Allow for use of OE exhaust exits, as most C5 owners have OE or OE-located outlets...or at leat allow flexibility.
4. Be available in either ABS plastic / urethane if for looks, or fiberglass / CF if it's functional
5. Not stick out like a birds **** stuck on the back, but look integrated and functional

The key to the whole things is that it has to look functional, whether it is or not. Everything else is ricey, and normal owners will not buy it. It's like buying parts-store self adhesive hood scoops.

I posted the link below for reference, not because I think the design will work for a C5, but because it looks intentional and like it's part of the car...NOT A CHEESEY AFTERTHOUGHT. That's my $0.02, take it with a grain of salt.

I agree on both points. I do prefer the small central exit as to me the quad exit on the diffuser looks kinda bulky and the two tip center diffuser just looks more attractive. However, its not about me but what the majority wants on the forum. I WILL argue though-with an attractive diffuser with a center exit for two tips for mid 300$ who couldn't have some piping fabbed with the savings considering it looked like a diffuser was gonna cost the C5 crowd 900$(fiberglass)+ until Quik came along......

A diffuser that would accommodate quad-tip or spaced dual-tip exhaust would be inherently bulky. So obviously the exhaust situation plays into how the diffuser will look as a finished product. With that said two versions may need to be offered.

Ok here is roughly what the diffuser would look like on a C5 rear bumper. The last two pics are of the C5 rear and TS rear with the Pratt-Miller C6RS diffuser.

I'm sorry, but I've gotta say this.
You guys are trying to improve on something that's pretty darned close to perfect.

I haven't seen anything in this thread that looks better than this:

Years ago my vette was parked outside our office window, rear facing us, and I said to my boss "I'm gonna get some raised lettering for the rear." And he said "You're trying to improve on ththat!?"

I have to disagree vettedawg. The best part of our c5 is the front and sides, the rear just looks too fat and bulky to me. I painted the bottome of my fascia black to get it a little more aggresive. I also bought an RPI spoiler where its raised just enough to give the rear of my car some much needed muscle. I think a rear diffuser would really make these cars pop. Everyone has a c5 but I want my c5 to be my own.

Looks like you went with the lettering... lol We are trying to go over ideas to make this happen but thx. Your boss tried to talk you down from what was maybe the first chrome mod of many on the rear of your C5. You did it anyway to express yourself. That's all that quite a few of us are wanting to do here. Thx. QUOTE=VetteDawg;1570335353]I'm sorry, but I've gotta say this.

Yup. I DID go with the lettering. Do you have ANY idea how much I spent on that license plate frame? (buying it and re-chroming after cutting off the center bars)

I didn't want to post anything negative because I truly believe it's perfectly alright to mod vettes to taste. But in order to get a lot of orders vendors have to come up with something quite tasty...and I just don't think I've seen it yet. Although I haven't had a look at the one that somebody has in their sig on a silver vette. Ya just get a side view of it. That one might look ok. - of course this is just one guy's opinion.

Is this just for looks? What is the purpose of having a diffuser?

haha! Right on buddy. I wondered about that license plate frame. I haven't ever seen one like it. It does look nice and I am hoping that Quik can make this diffuser thing happen. If you are referring to the silver C5 that BPP did. That's the one that most folks wish was tamed down quite a bit. It sticks out somethin fierce.
