You can get a monthly account from CarFax or a competitor for like $30.

Since you are dealing with a "dealer" that is too cheap to furnish one (that's a deal no no for me), why not "invest" $20 in one for yourself? Think of it as your first mod.

Default Carfax...

Hey Dude, Welcome to Corvette heaven and the Corvettew Forum. These folks on here are great with any questions you might have. As far as Carfax, you have a computer, use it to access carfax yourself, it costs $20.00 for a single use and it's really worth it. I bought a '98 coupe and that was the 2nd thing I did. Right after my bud the mechanic. All proved out well and I bought it, and soooooo glad I did. Don't remember the website, maybe carfax.com, but, a search engine will bring it to you. All you need is the VIN#

Your comment may be misunderstood and this thread locked by a moderator. It's against this sites rules to ask for a CARFAX.

Since you're in the search mode for a car, it might be better to purchase a plan that offers more than just one CARFAX search.

Keep in mind that CARFAX is only as good as the information that's input into the database. Many members have discovered collision damage on their used vehicle that wasn't reflected on the CARFAX report.

You can request a GM database report. Either from your friendly GM service manager or some members here can do it for you (send a PM to Gene Culley of GMPARTSHOUSE). Between those two data bases and a thorough check by someone who's familiar with C5 cars, you should have a good indication of it's history/condition.

Remember though... Just because Carfax says the car is clean with no accident history doesnt mean the car hasnt been in the worse of conditions. Carfax only knows of an accident if it was reported through the insurance company or a police report of an accident. MAke sure you still look over the car very well.

Step back and look at the paint to make sure all panels match. Make sure one panel doesnt have "Newer" looking paint and the panels around it is a bit faded.

Make sure all the panels line up correctly.

Make sure the gaps between the hood and each quarter panel is very even

Make sure to open both doors and ensure that the doors do not rub the fender or the fender looks pressed in so the door will open without any noise.

Look at the insides and outsides of the tires to check for any out of alignment issues that could lead to a tweaked frame.

So on and so forth. There is a lot to check to ensure yoyu are getting what you pay for.
