I suppose this is as good a place to pose the question as any. What's the point of a diffuser in the rear or a splitter in the front? What do they do that's so terrific besides clutter the lines of an already gorgeous car? I don't get it.

The rear diffuser is suppose to help smooth the airflow under the car to provide better aerodynamics and stabilize the rear by preventing lift. The problem with any aftermarket diffuser is that I doubt any aftermarket company is gonna spend the money to do actual wind tunnel testing. So most likely, it'll be for aesthetic reasons which is why it's got to blend in well with the C5 lines.

Why would you want to cut the side of your car to put Z06 brake ducts on!? Same reason here, everyone has different tastes. Not everyone wants to keep their C5 in stock form to look like the other 100,000+ C5's out there.

Also, I might add, that I would just as soon buy something like this for looks as I would for actual application. I think, like most people here, if you're buying something like this to actually get use out of it, you'd give a rat's *** about what the damn thing looks like. People want a nice visual application as much as a performance application for the exterior of their 'vettes. Look at all the wing options out there; some, like the race wings, are sure to provide some serious downforce, but you'll look like an utter tool if you go slapping something like that on your daily driver and your commute isn't the Indy 500.
