metallic snapping when turning when parking

After coming back from an autocross I'm getting a metallic crackling / snapping sound when turning the wheels at very low speeds (while parking the car). It doesn't happen for the whole duration of my turning the steering wheel - it's one or two times while turning the wheel.

Any idea what it could be?

Had the same problem, my shocks needed to be tighten up ==turned the shock bolts a little the noise stopped -been a year have'nt heard those noises again

also happened to me when I removed the bushings on the front lowering bolts, until I put bushings back in place

All great suggestions...obviously the answer is to jack up the front of the car and check all front suspension and shock components. I'm guessing your track event (with the stress to the suspension) was the straw that broke the camel's back with a component that was already loose.
