Need new pads and I figured hell while I am at it ill just get rotors too, they need to perform atleast as well as the stock ones, but mainly the drilled slotted style for looks. Which ones perform better for street use. I thought it was discouraged to have slotted rotors on your avg street car because it chews up pads or maybe it was drilled, is this a farse? I like the fact that the delco's hats are already black.
Thanks,
J

drilled and slotted for $30 ea? you have a part number or a link so that I know what to ask for? and I wonder if the local NAPA will have them in stock?
Since it is just for bling. Get whichever one is easier to find and cheaper. I think the NAPA drilled ones were about $100/each. They won't hurt your brake pads. Don't worry about that.
Stay with solid rotors.
Let us know if you find any rotors that don't say Made in China on the box.
The last ones I bought that still said Made in USA was Wagner.

Good luck with that - China owns the rotor market.
FYI -
NAPA = Aimco = BPI and they have 2 lines - the premiums and the 'second line'
I am 99% they are both from China - the premiums look better and usually have the center black coating.
Yup. The closed the foundries in Canada and the last one in McHenry, IL. Your rotors are now made in China from "God only knows what" materials. So now those cheap NAPA blanks cost double. The original cost + shipping from China. They'll crack just as fast on track too.
The sad part is those really expensive rotors. Come from the same foundries now. And many of them have their calipers made in Taiwan or other Asian countries. But they are "assembled" in the US. Then sold as US. These are some of the big name brake companies making the BBK kits that sell for serious $$$... sad...

The reason manufacturing is done in China is because there is a lot of money that can be saved over manufacturing in North America.
Think about what you just said, it's completely counter-intuitive. I guarantee NAPA is saving a significant amount of money (after shipping!) having the rotors made in China.

Oh really. Then I guess NAPA must be greedy as hell. Because those same rotors now cost me double in price! Used to be $26/ea for front rotors made in Canada. Now more like $52/ea made in China.
I'm sure the cost to freight those parts from China is more than it is from Canada. So the rest is all profit then?

Actually cast iron went up about double last year which drove rotor prices up pretty good. It has sagged a bit but prices have not come down.
Since material cost is a big part of making rotors - the price is sensitive to that.
China makes them so cheap - and subsidizes the production as well - that we have anti-dumping fee's on top of the rotor cost if you import them.
Lastly - they have taken a decent curved vane vented rotor design and nearly ruined it - especially the rear rotor.
Drillled are a for looks - and mostly a liability IF the rotor is used hard.
Slotted are reasonably helpful without risking premature failure. They increase brake torque a bit - and for example can help street pads work a little better under hard use.
