Q. What's the difference between a Porsche and a Porcupine?
A. A Porcupine has the ***** on the outside.
The local Porsche club, of which I am a paid up member, asked for drivers to take the kids from a local orphanage on a trip round the F1 race track and then to a water park.
Each driver was also asked to donate a minimum of $500 to the orphanage.
I volunteered only to be knocked back because I don't drive a Porsche!
Well excuse me, surely any kid in that position would have been happy to have a trip in a Vette let alone appreciate the $500 donation?

I've met some Vette "drivers" who acted like they were driving a Ferrari --- and I've met my share of Ferrari "drivers" who gave me the base for my comparison.
They come in all shapes, sizes.. and yes... they are driving all kinds of cars.
At least you tried... Don't let them get to ya... they're just haters.

Porsche club has reduced track rates and members get first shot at sign-up for track days.
I think most Porsche owners would be upset to hear this story.
Makes sense, and I agree. There are some very pretentious marque owners out there that think less of anyone "not on par with them", and then there are the true "car guys"...people who genuinely appreciate the performance/custom car culture, and can accept all players as part of the game.
I have and currently own BMWs, Porsches, and a z06. Most of my contact with Porsche owners is at the track. Usually, those folks are "car guys" and like all kinds of cars. A lot of nice Corvette folks at the track too!
They are a good bunch of guys but a bit carried away with themselves.
Most are in the finance and banking industry and have access to cheap loans for cars.
I did join for track time as they get to use the F1 track around once a month plus they have monthly get togethers which I am allowed to go to
It just bugged me a bit (ok, a lot) that they turned down a ride and a donation because of my car.
Jeez, I had hats and t shirts planned and even a laptop and printer powered by an inverter so I could print all the kids a photo of the day to take home with them.
Anyway, off to the beach with MY kids tomorrow instead.
