Question about 2000 coupe
My dad has an early 2000 coupe WITHOUT the passenger side airbag defeat switch.
I have a 2 year old son.
See where I'm going with this?
Is there a way to defeat the airbag if we DON'T have the switch installed?

Man, haven't seen a post from you in years!
Why not install the GM bypass - Ken Fichtner probably still offers a good deal on that.

Well, you guys would see more posts from me if you were over in the C2 section.
My dad and I swapped. He got the 2000, and I got the 67.
Anyway, is the bypass a SWITCH or a permanent defeat, kind of like the CAGS defeat?

You can buy a kit from GM that can be installed to do just what you want. Not sure of the price, but maybe check with Gene at gmpartshouse.com for a quote. Then check with a dealer to see what they would charge to install the kit.

does the kit make it a switch, or turn it off always? My wife and I are looking at kids and I will be in the same boat as the op in a couple of years.

It's a switch you can turn on and off.
Chris, what a wild swap - not that I wouldn't do it. That is, I'd trade the wife's C5 for a C2 and keep my C5.
Her's is the black one.
Good to see an old C5 veteran on here again.

Thanks Patches, it's good to be back.
Dad and I just drove the 2000 to the Wisconsin NCRS Regionals. I was behind the wheel again for a few hours. It was fun......I miss that car.
Once I'm done with the 67 restoration (see here
www.vetteaction.com ) I'll have to start lobbying for a late C5 or early C6. Red perhaps.....
