Default General vs. Kumho

I am looking for some feedback on comparison of these two tires:
General Exclaim UHP vs. Kumho Ecsta ASX

My Goodyears have 31k miles and need replacing. Since I have a family, budget is a major factor.

My 2003 is a daily driver, 60 miles a day on the Interstate. I live in NE Texas (Texarkana area), so the weather is mostly warm. It may snow here 2 days a year, and get to freezing temps for maybe a month or two typically. The car is completely stock, with a M6 transmission. I do not race on the strip or road courses.

I am just looking for the best tire of these two for an all around daily driver.

I have the Generals on my GTO and love them, great tire for the money.
Wet traction is almost as good as my GSD3's I have on the Vette.

If you are going to run the Generals then you need to get them on all four corners. I ran the Generals on the rear and PS2's on the front and the *** end always felt squirrly. I wont mix match these tires ever again if I purchace them.

I LOVE my Kumho ECSTA runflats...suprisingly a quiet ride, reliable, and more than reasonably priced....lets us know what you choose.

I've had several General tires in the past and they've performed well. I've also had good service from Kumhos. Currently running Ecsta MX XRPs.

I put a set of Kumho ASXs on my coupe in 2004. I loved the ride and they lasted forever. The finally needed replacing Last month, more from weather cracking than tread wear. So the hard rubber of the ASX lived up to it's billing. I switched to the Generals and the ride is just as great (smooth and quiet) and push water really nice. I hope they wear as well. Time will tell....but I'm very satisfied so far.

For your style of driving the Generals are perfect. I just put some on a few weeks ago. They are great! Tires, install, and alignment for $700. Can't beat that.

How many miles did you put on your kumhos in the past 5 years?

The Kuhmo ASX will last 30k miles easy. Im on my second set in two years (160k miles on my 02), and this second set has most of the tread left. I will be buying this tire for a while. I commute my vette/daily drive so I get on her and they have great drivability.

I run the Kuhmo's and love them over the factory run flats. Front tires are on the second season and rears are on the third season. I drive the vette daily and some days hard. There is a very curvy road nearby and take 25mph corners in third at 50mph with no tire squeeling or traction control kicking in...stock suspension. I'll buy Kuhmo's again.

Where in the world did you get that price?

Discount tire is quoting me $852 for just the tires installed. No alignment.
