Default Repainting front bumper

I am repainting my front bumper. Will I be able to remove all the pieces from the bumper with it installed. The pieces around the fog lamps and the turn signals.
I have the bumper off now and am planning on painting (clear coat)the lower half and then installing the bumper to get the upper part.
No I will not be getting any paint lines. Because I will be installing the bumper an hour or so after I paint the lower part and will be doing it right away. I do not beed any painting information as I have been painting for 30 years. The only info I need is if I will be able to install these pieces with the bumper installed.

thank you

I would think that you can take the access panels off from under the front fascia and it will allow you to remove the turnsignal housings. Not sure about the fog light surrounds - they may be able to be removed that way also. Hopefully someone else will chime in and let you know about that area.

is there an advantage to painting the upper part after it has been reinstalled on the car?

Less chance of scratching during installation. I am doing it myself. I don't care if the part you don't see gets a scratch I can always touch that up but the top part will be seen.

But lets stay with the question at hand, can I remove or install those pieces with the bumper on. The painting part is not the issue here.

gee - I think I'd paint it while its off -- could puts lots of blue tape on the edges to avoid scratches when installing.

They are really not that tough to re-install without scratching, but to each his own.

Honestly yes it can be done, but it's a huge pain in the ***. I painted mine off the car with everything out. Then waited 2 days to put everything back together and taped the edge's to put it on. With 2 people you can safely install it with out scratching it.

Unfortunately I don't have another person to help me so I have to find other means to get a 2 man job done by one.

Yes, you can get every thing off without removing it, but I would remove it. It isn't that hard to put it back on without scratching it. I think you are going through alot more trouble than neccesary trying to shoot it twice.

If you have been painting 30 years you should be aware of this

the short answer is yes you can, but IMO you stand a good chance of screwing it up that way. You will be twisting and bending to get to the tight spots thru the access holes and the chance of FUBAR happening is elevated.

but then to each his own. I did mine and installed it myself without any problems, I just set it on some soft pads and put 1 side inplace at a time then tightened it up. it actualy went on easier than taking it off.

More Than Zero

ps the turn signials are the tufest to get back on but they are doable.

yes, and the best way to do it the way you want to is to have it in the air (on a lift) while putting it back together other wise its a pain in the azz like thay said earlier.

What is the big deal here?? I've done this several times. Remove the fascia cover (30 minutes MAX), paint it OFF the car-will save you TONS of time masking off the rest of the car and getting to the tight spots. You could wetsand it off the car, install then buff. This is by far, the easiest, safest way to do this. If you want to blend into the hood and fenders you need to at least loosen the fasia from the fenders so you don't build up paint/clear in the seams.
