I bought a new set of Sumi's for our vacation trip three weeks ago. They came in while I was on a business trip and the bride took baby to a local tire and battery shop ( been around for years with five locations) to have the tires mounted and balanced and mounted along with alignment. When I get home and put the baby out on the interstate for the first time the wheel and floor are vibrating like hell. WTF is going on. Just spent couple hundred bucks for this??? The next day I take it to the tire place and explain their problem to them. The ***'t mgr says it will take a few hours before they can get it done , but you know it could be the tire since you didn't buy them from us. The worker guy tells me after balanceing all four that the prrevious guy did a sh**ty job on the balance and every thing is cool now. Took my keys, fired up the baby and down the road I went. Didn't get a 1/4 mile and I told the bride that I think it's worse than before. I drove a couple of miles and got it up on the interstate and confirmed that it was indeed worse. Got off the interstate and called my buddy the ***'t mgr and told him the situation and wanted to return the car and get it done right I'm tired of f**king around. Well we close in an hour so you'll have to bring it back during the week for me personally to look at to determine if its the tires or something else. I'm a working stiff and don't want to take off time to get something corrected for the third time. He said take it or leave it , that's the deal, and its probably the tires. Today I took the baby to a high performance speed shop, that I thought just did the jacked up trucks and the custom boom box cars. Come to find out they specialize in high performance cars and trucks, have a trained corvette specialist that can do all the mapping and etc. and just happens to own a 98 producing over 600 rwhp. They put the wheels on the machine and all four wheels were out of balance and all tires passed the down force test that indicates the tire is not eliptical. Put her out on the highway and got her up to speed and everything is like it should be. Moral of the story is I found a shop that does good work. I have identified a nest of dumb asses that should be out of business. Boy I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Time for another jack on the rocks. Save the wave.
Go back to the dumb asses, show them the work order of the good place and demand your money back. If they refuse, dispute the charge on CC and request a stop payment.

I have a good one, several times in the past I have taken DOT's in to get mounted and balanced and they wouldn't do it because the "Brand New" DOT's did not have enough tread.

You did not name names!!!!!
About 5 1/2 hours after your post, I posted one of my own, titled "A Tire Tale," wherein I told of an experience I had in Port Orange, FL.
I wound up at a very helpful, world class tire facility, and I identified it as being Firestone, located at 3812 S Nova Rd., Port Orange FL. (exit 156 off Rt# 95N). Alas they couldn't help me, regardless of their herculean efforts. Couldn’t locate a replacement tire. They didn't even let me pay for what hey did do!
Unfortunately I was then stuck doing business with a pirate around the corner, who took advantage of my situation on a holiday weekend, and skinned me accordingly. This dealership was “Tire Kingdom,” located at 899 Dunlawton Ave. (FL Rt3 421) Port Orange FL. In fact, I mentioned this name and address twice, in case a Forum Member, living nearby might, have missed it. Naturally I still have the invoice, to prove the veracity of my claim. GRT
