Now I have a C5
After owning C4s for the last 15 years, I recently traded in my '92 for a '97 with only 16,000 miles. Loved the C4s, but this car is really great.
Can't afford to buy after-market wheels at the moment. Would it be worth it to have the original wheels polished?

Congrads.... I had a 74 and a 84 before i got my 99 a few years ago and I couldn't go back to a c-4 again. You will enjoy this car a lot more I think.
As far as the wheels go... Most people seem to dislike the stock wagon wheels I still have mine and yes there are some great looking wheels out there but i don't know if thats something you need to worry about at the moment. For now I'd enjoy my new ride and worry about the other stuff later...
Enjoy!

Congrats- You've made a major change-It doesn't take long to figure it out-You probably knew it before you shut the door! I still have a 96-and there are a lot of things to like about them-But the C5 is a neat ride-Have fun
Welcome to the C5 world. Hope you enjoy it.
As others said, yes you can polish yours or do some things but at the end of the day they are still the wagon wheels (I've never been a big fan of those). I'd recommend holding onto the money that you would have spent on improving those and just put that towards making a change.

How are the tires at 16k? -- when I bought my 97 2 years ago, I decided to stay with the wagon wheels until the tires were ready to replace and then just ordered a set of wheels and tires together in a package - the price was great and all I did was bolt them on. Enjoy your new vette until you are ready - the wagons aren't that bad - but then you'll feel like you just a new car again when it wheel/tire time.

Congrats!
Wait till you are ready to buy aftermarket wheels - having the stockers polished is not worth the dollars spent -
Keep an eye on the For Sale section and you'll find something for your Vette soon enough
Thanks,Matt
