I've had a problem for a while now. Every so often when i turn on my headlights they don't pop up. If I pull the switch you can tell that the brights kick on.
I'm thinking its the swithc stalk that is the problem. Cause once in a while when this happens if I jiggle the stalk or something the lights then pop up. Its not the motors of the headlights cause the come up just fine when they work.
anyone else seen this problem and if so what was the fix? I can order a new stalk but its like $175 and I wanted to make sure it was that before I bought it.
Can you verify if the lows come on? If they do, you problem may be a faulty headlight module. This is the small black box in the passenger side headlight cove. This is what controls the headlight lifting motors.
If you can can operate all your other lights (parking, turn signal etc) with your multifunction switch, I'd suggest looking into the headlight module.
Lows do not come one when this happens. I've manually raised the lights and turn them on when this has happened and lights do not come on.
All other functions of the stalk seem to work just fine.
see if you can trigger the low beams directly with a 12v(+) feed directly to the underhood fuses. Each bulb gets it's own fuse. Then test the headlight motor fuses (again each one gets it's own fuse)

I think the OP is correct in that its the headlamp switch. If he's wiggling it and they come up, then he's found the problem. There is a cheaper place to get the exact switch. Feel free to PM me if you want it. I can't post it because they are not a forum vendor.
FYI, typically when the lamps are on but not up, then the first thing would be the headlamp controller. However, the switch is what sends the command to tell the headlamp controller to raise the lights. Lots of interfacing with the BCM too.
