I am planning on taking the vette to the track in march. I was wondering, do you guys put it in competitive driving mode, or do you just turn off all the active handling and traction control? I am pretty new to the 1/4 mile racing scene. I have only made maybe 5 passes in a Mustang GT vert. Most the typical times for that car are around 15 flat and i managed to run 14.9s on crappy 2.2 60 ft's.
The first time i ran mine i had it a comp. driv. and the wheel hop bumped the car into tract/act handling on. Its very hard (IMHO) to keep down the wheel spin. I would just turn off the act. handling and feather the clutch. good luck my first run was ugly. The next day my girlfriend said wash those #'s off your car, I said leave em on,its impressive people will think I race or something, She said it would only impress people that were not at the track
OUCH GET OUT OF MY CAR HO!
It's just that the clutch is more expensive to replace than are the rear tires. I don't race but two or three times a year, but when I do, I prefer to dump the clutch and feather the gas.
On the few occasions I've experienced wheel hop, I back off. I didn't want my fillings to come out of my teeth!
