Conducting an Experiment - feedback please
As to the experiment… I have had a couple issues with my windows and the dreaded “Service ABS” and “Traction Control” warning coming up. The windows when I would triple click “lock” to roll the windows up would roll them up but after a split second would roll back down. A Forum Member suggested “recalibrating” the Window Valet which I did. It seemed to solve the problem. Well a short time later the ABS / Traction control warning would flash up, be there for a couple starts and then go away.
I read all the threads and wrote it off as a problem (common one) that I would have to deal with. Last Wednesday I drove the car (no warnings) shut it down. When I restarted it received the ABS/Traction Control message. Shut it down restarted and it was gone. Drove a block it came back on. Shut Down and restarted and it remained.
I then had a thought… its rare but two brain cells must have bumped into each other… I reached down and pulled the Window Valet. Restarted and no message….
Now I had been working on a theory that if you did not turn on the key to the on position and allow the “computers to boot and receive feed back from all the sensors” that starting it in the middle of this “could” cause a false code. I still think it may be somewhat valid. Now I am thinking that after 3 years the Window Valet may be loose in the diagnostic port or something has gone wrong with it causing it to cause or send false error codes triggering the ABS/Traction Control warning.
It has been 5 days and no error codes with the Window Valet pulled. In a couple days I will be replacing the Window Valet to see if the car starts throwing the codes again. Please let me hear you thoughts on this.
In closing I want to insure that it is clear that I LOVE the Window Valet. Did realize how much I use it till I pulled it. It is great and the support I have received has been top notch.
