I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine about vararam intake and he said it would be to much of a risk that you might suck up water what do you guys think?
Any things possible. I've had mine on since 03, but I don't daily drive mine and hibernates durring the winter. I would think you would have to be going through 6" of standing water, before you would have a problem.Good luck.

It's possible, but pretty remote unless you think ( as soooo many people have everytime we have major rains here) that your car is a Land Rover or Hummer.

Thanks guys is it hard to install and is it that much better than other systems?
A little more time consuming than your standard Intake. It can be done in a couple hours or less. The advantage is you'll be getting cold air from outside rather than hot air from under your hood which will increase HP
Be sure you do a search on them ad read about the complaints people have about them. They are not the best of quality and alot of people are unhappy with them. I wasn't particularly enthused with mine, but it works okay I guess. It isn't worth the price. I paid $274 shipped. You should be able to find as good a deal or better if you look.
Come on is he serious? If your car is a daily drive and have to drive in the rain you will be ok. Like someone else said, stay out of the flood zone you will be fine.
You know how many people are driving around with this setup with zero troubles.
I would stay with the stock system.
The risk and expense is not worth the marginal gain in airflow. You would probably never be able to tell any difference. I am always skeptical that aftermarket filters allow extra dirt to get into the engine. If you have less pressure drop, then there is a tradeoff on how much filtration you get.
The product actually works very well.
I installed it along with the Power Duct earlier this year.
You can actually feel the power difference. It's probably the best bang for the buck power mod you can do.
The fit and finish quality Suck. I took an Razor knife and cleaned up all the loose plastic trimmings before installing the unit.
As for driving in the rain. I came through Two hours of Monsoon style rain on the way home from Bloomington Gold with absolutely no problem.
