There have been posts about this before. At present I have one bulb out which causes the top two buttons to not light up. I recently ordered a set of gauge bezels so I am planning sometime this summer to pull the gauge cluster and take care of the bulb issue at the same time.

Yup...its a PITA to get to. Look for the LED threads. There is a good write up of how to get to it in one of those.

They are type#74 bulbs. Personally I suggest removing the LEDs from the plastic base and soldering the leads directly to the contacts. Just make sure you have the polarity correct before putting it back together.

Actually the stock bulbs are a 70 mA incandescents, and as TheRadioFlyer suggested if replacing them with LEDs it is far more effective to solder the LEDs directly unto the switche's PCB rather then using a plug and play type # 74 wedge base LED.

The real trick is getting everything in the car to look good and work together! Using White LEDs will make you pull your hair out! And I'm not kidding either!

I think he was wanting to replace with stock...I mentioned the LED thread because I know there are a few write ups on how to get to it in there. But if your gonna be in there...might as well do the LED swap!

tstar, Interesting that you say that about the plug and play. Im pretty sure thats what I did on mine and it looks pretty good. They are blue so a bit more subdued than white would be. And there is a slight hot spot...but most people dont notice it at all. Its been so long now I dont remember all the details of how I did it...but I wasnt too good with a soldering iron back then so Im pretty sure I didnt do it that way.

Yeah I agree with you, certain switches turn out pretty good with the P&Ps, the door switches for example turn out pretty good. That hot spot could be emilinated by installing an LED unto the PCB, then you can adjust the angle and depth.

But try using P&Ps in the Traction Control switch, Trunk Release or a HUD switch...

But back to the OP, Buy these and replace the burned out bulbs with em;
