the CREE LR6 bulb emits a true incandescent color from an LED.
i bought one for my recessed can in my laundry room and it's awesome. you get the instant brightness of an incandescent and the superior energy savings of a CF.
i have no idea if they sell individual LEDs, but have you tried looking at CREE products for different whites?
I just checked out the LR6 it uses unsaturated Yellow LEDs and sautrated Red LEDs. I'm not sure what the saturation statements mean... Yellow is impossible or at the least very difficult to get, true yellow that is. I haven't found any yet...
Interesting but I don't see how Yellow and Red make White without some sort of filter...

i dunno how it works but i can vouch that this LED light is the shizz for home lighting. i need to get off my butt and put up a thread about it in CFOT.

It is pretty cool, but how long does it take to recoup the cost in electric bill savings?
You know the stock ElectroChromatic Mirror Maplights are a combination of Orange and Aqua LEDs... I tried making Purple out of using Blue and Red 3mm LEDs and all I got was Blue, the Red was totally absorbed... I mean it just disappeared! So maybe the wavelengths generated by the LEDs don't follow logic, as far as the Color Wheel goes. I'll do some experiments with different colors and combinations when I get a minute. If I come anything interesting I'll post it!
Heya Tim When I first got on the forum Jason helped me out with any question I had so I call him dad. He will tell you that's bs because he is like 2-3 months younger than me
Jason, I was supposed to send my hvac to the good man Tim awhile back but I had some unforeseen home expenses pop up I hope to bombard his mail very soon Put that woopin stick away!

Hey Tim; I put 4 red and 2 blue 5mm leds in each side of my autodimming mirror and got purple. You can see it on the seats in these pics. This was before I started replacing the helper leds in these mirrors so I may get some purple leds and do the helper led also. I have a solid red mirror in there now. All 6 lite up as well with this combo.

I was trying to light up a switch and crammed a Blue 3mm and a Red 3mm into it and the Red just disappeared, pretty cool effect you got with the mirror arrays!!!!!!
BTW I got a better fix for Blue and White in the mirror arrays so they all light up at full brightness.

probably never. i didn't buy it for that. i bought it for the fact that i just didnt want a halogen in that recessed can and a CF takes too long to get to full brightness.
if i could afford it, i'd do every can in the house in those LR6 bulbs.
