CD - Static Sound
Not sure if this is a tech or general question, so I posted this on the general side as a starter....
I have a '97 Corvette with the factory-installed 12-disc changer in the hatch. Plays CDs fine....except for one. When I play the CD in question ("Show Of Hands" - Live CD by Rush), I can hear a kind of static or crackling sound through the speakers - at first I thought it was the clapping of the audience, but this can even be heard while a song is playing (I would have figured that the song being performed would drown out any clapping).
The compact disc in question is clean, and plays without issue on my home stereo and in the in-dash CD player in my 2004 Corolla.
Do the changers in our Corvettes have issues with certain CDs, or is this a sign that something is up with my CD changer itself? (As I say, all other discs that I have played so far are ok.)
Thanks!
I use mostly burned copies, but for some CDs, the original provides the best quality. I have two 12x cartridges in my trunk and I prefer the sound quality of CD over any other format.
I mention that because somebody is going to suggest you use an IPOD or get a mega watt stereo or better speakers...they usually do.
Totally boggles me in that this is the only CD giving me a pain in the rear! Especially because there are some really good tunes on it!!!!
On the main menu page towards the bottom, there is an Audio/Electronics forum for questions like these. They're the real audiophiles and would probably know more.
Beware, they're also the guys who will suggest you spend more money on IPOD conversions, better speakers and mega watt stereo systems.
I told you so...
And I consider myself warned!!!!! I have a few buddies who love their electronics, and when they start to talk about this kind of stuff, I am lost!
