Had a similar problem with my ZEX system running a wet 125 shot. Had the TR6's in and it gave me nothing but problems. I know that im in the minority but put in the TR55's and it has run great except at idle with the AC on ever since.
Even with the AC off the TR6's gave me a very rough running engine once it warmed up, when it was cold all was good.
Running all the safties, full throttle, window switch, and heater.
Running rich is ALWAYS the preferred and safe thing to do. Running lean will toast an engine FAST, running rich will not-it's finding the balance that's hard to do.
Yea, its not like you can melt a piston from running too much fuel or anything Although it may be "preferred" as you put it, it can most certainly still "toast an engine."
Get it tuned.
