The best launches are at night, by boat. Seen most of them but these days the traffic around here has become such a pain in the a$$ before and after a launch I just stay home. Took me 45 minutes to get across the bridge last night coming from Merritt Island. It seems the closer to the end of the shuttle program the more people are coming over to watch one.

And just think, flasunshine1 (Pat) is waaay further away than you, and even he can still see it on the horizon from the other side of Florida. He's in Tampa on the West coast!
I can see the shuttle pretty good up here in Palm Coast.
Just watched it go off finally after three scrubs. And yes I can see it but it is small compared to where you are on the Palm Coast. I did see a night launch fron Vero Beach and that was very cool.

Unfortunately, we had a pretty bad thunderstorm the same time of the launch. I could'nt see it go off.
My Father-in-law lives in Leesburg and we drove over to Titusville for a launch. It was the coolest thing, the sound , the rumble that goes through you...and all the car alarms that go off If you can get to see one it's worth the trip.
flasunshine1, we lived in Crystal River for 16 years. I loved when the shuttle went up at night, because there were no city lights to brighten up the sky. That sonic boom will scare the he** out of you if you didn't remember when it was landing! LOL
DH and I went to see the first shuttle launch after the Challenger disaster. It was awesome, although the love bugs were a PITA. They seem to congregate in the marsh/farm land over there.
Now that we're in 'bama and an hour from Huntsville (NASA and Space Camp), we get the launch live on TV, just like we did in FL.
