I've got them, got the aluminum ones and painted them Electron Blue to match my car. Not exactly sure where they came from, they were a Christmas present.

I just painted mine this weekend. I painted the hat with dupilcolor black and the calipers red. I have a torch red also. Here is a pic to give you an idea of what it will look like. Good luck on whatever you decide.
My rotor hubs came painted black. I think it looks cool and relatively easy to do.
...
My rotor hubs came painted black as well, but on the rear there needed to be more black. There was the area that the calipers "cleaned off" when braking, then a small ring of rust, then the black paint/coating. The chrome covers take care of the area that the black paint/coating missed.
I'd forego the painting on the hat's..just wait til you get new rotors and they should already be black if that's what you're wanting. One slip of the brush and now you've got paint on the rotor contact surface.
A couple of weeks ago I installed the chrome hub covers that I bought from WCC while they had there weekend discount. Saved $20 off normal price and the wheels now sparkle. I considered painting the rotors black but I wanted the bling on the wheels that the chrome gave me.
I took my rotors off and polished the hubs with a 8" buffing wheel on my radial arm saw......then clear coated them with VHT clear. Look almost like chrome.
If you want to paint them, just make a mask out of cardboard to keep the paint off the rotor surface. Be sure to use HiTemp Paint !
The first couple of stops will take any excess paint right off the rotor contact area and give you a nice clean edge! I wouldnt paint the whole surface of course but a little over spray wont hurt a thing!
I painted my rotor hats but it looked awful so I bought a set of the covers and it looks so much better now. I know they're pretty pricey when you could just paint them for a few $$ but it's worth it

so what if you get paint on the contact surface. It will come off with some braking.
I have a little "lazy susan", so laid my rotors on that and spun them slowly while holding my brush in my other hand. I didn't mess with masking anything!! I used Rustoleum paint and they still look great after 3 years.
