Default HUD going out?

I have noticed a few times that my HUD lights up all of the information it contains. It will do this for maybe 30 seconds, then slowly comes back to normal.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I would take a picture, but it does it while I am driving. It is almost like it is resetting itself or something.

My 1st post-my 03 coupe does the same thing. It will show all info in a purplish color and then scroll from the side and disappear, then it views normally. Usually does it in a curve. I bought it Feb 09, only had 5300 mi on it. Has more on it now!

I'll bet that it happens when the sun is behind you.

I've seen it a few times then I would drive under an overpass, the HUD returns to normal then when you come back out into the sun it lights up again.

All the dash indicators were normal and the HUD is yelling "You're gonna Die!!"

Exactly what is happening. I will have to pay attention to the sun's position to see if this is when it is happening.

I have noticed it more when it is cold (under 40) or hot (90+) outside. Don't really know if this has anything to do with it or not.

That happened to me today in my 'vert. I've only had it about a week and a half and wondered what was up. Considering I had the top down, I'm guessing it could have been the sun.

It usually happens in the afternoon; that is when I've seen mine do it.

It freaked my lovely wife out the first time she saw this. I was just happy she was paying attention to the notes/cautions/warnings!

The sun was at a low angle directly behind me the first time it happened. With the top down.

Thanks for the info everyone!

The first time it happened I was thinking, great, another part to replace. At least now I know it isn't anything serious.
