I'm just posting this so it'll get into the search files. Mobil 1 has a website, I don't know if you know about it or not. But if for some reason, there is any question about the factory fill for corvettes, go to www.mobiloil.com register, and once your there, you'll find on the sidebar a long list of questions about oils, lubes, grease and any lubricants, any, mobil or other. and if for some reason you still don't have clear answer to what you think or believe, there's a place to ask a question. they'll be more than happy to discuss Castrol, Valvolineor any other oil on the market. they explain about why a particular oil passed a GM4718M test and what it means. And they explain all about all of the testing of oils for automobiles and why this one is a better choice for your need or a bad choice for you. It's really one of the most complete websites I've ever run across.
BTW, they don't care if you use Mobil 1 or not, they'll still provide you with all the information you can ask for about motor oils and gear lubes, tests, specifications and calibrations ! And the reason for all of them.
