Default What is too much?

Hey guys I went to see a M.Y. 2002 c5z06 w/ 12,000 miles in mint stock condition. I looked up kbb it says that 2002's in excellent condition ate worth 22,450 the guy is asking 27,900. I offered him 24,500 he said he would think about it. Is it crazy to be paying over the blue book value in your guys opinion? Should i offer him more or did I even possibly offer to much? I have been shopping around now for a while. Your feedback would be much appreciated.

For a 12k mile Zo6 (any year) I'd pay up to 25k

That's "my" limit....

I wouldnt pay over bluebook, just because it only has 12k miles doesnt justify 5k more. I'd rather buy something for a steal with 30k than pay over the blue book to have less miles.

Whatever you do dont get a 2001. And paying over blue book is for chumps. Plus if you ever go to sell it in the future you are going to lose a lot of money.

I bought my '04 for $21,000 with 35,000 miles from the original owner. Good deals are out there, patience is needed though Stay away from '01's unless your planning a stroker motor in the future.

I am buying a 2002 Z06 next Tuesday that has 18,000 miles and I'm paying $25k. NADA books out over $26k for the car and, to be perfectly honest, I don't give a rats a$$ if I am paying a little more. A M.Y. Z06 as clean as the one I'm getting is as close to my dream car as I'll ever get.

Do what makes you happy; there will always be someone with something negative to say.

I picked up a sweet black on black 03 ZO6 with 42K for $21000. There are good deals out there. I think your offer is a good one for a car with that mileage.

I wouldn't pay over the true value for the car....the challenge is everyone's perception of "true value" is different...KBB, Black Book, NADA are all just guides

Damn where are you guys finding those good deals? Right now it seems like there all priced a litttle high. My guess is since its summertime the price shoots up a little. One thing that also made me offer a little more to is that the car is local so i dont have to drive far or fly out to get it. I dont know I was thinking of offering offering him 25k and stopping at that if I dont get it I guess the search goes on. There was a 2003 I was lookin at a month ago at a dealer w/12k miles and he would not budge under 27,500. I played hardball w/ them and the car sold. I kind of regret it cause that one had a lot of appearance mods i liked. Thanks for all the info guys. I have been roaming this board for a while now and you guys got some great info out there.

Ya, like I said 2001 was the best year I have owned them all and 2001 is the best, don't let these kids that read all this crap on the inter-net sway you the wrong way.

Btw guys this guy and his wife are car nuts. He has 6 toy cars, lifts in the garage, and every car is impeccable. This was his wifes car the underbody looks like new he say 2-3 times a year he washes and hand wipe the undercarrage of every car. I mean all his cars dont have a speck on them in or out. So this is another thing that really is making me lean towards this car and offering a little more. My wife checked through her bank and they said NADA is 26,700 and they would give me a loan for 27,000 for the car. I dont need the loan but we just wanted to see what the bank thinks its worth. I am really thinking about this one but I hate to overpay especially when I here the deals you guys are getting.

I think it has a lot to do with location and willingness to travel to "find the good deal". That could be a great deal for your area but in another area could be flooded with them and not be a good deal at all. I personally would pay a little more for something I wanted and was local, I like the least amount of hassle. And all these people saying dont buy an 01 need to stop reading all the internet hype, although I did change my motor it didnt have any oil consumtion problems before hand and made awsome power with a few mods.
