On my 99 coupe, my air conditioner directs most of the air through the front defroster vent. Regardless how I set the "mode" it always blows most of the cold air to the windshield.
I have pulled the battery and the battery box and looked for the sometimes present leak in the vacuum hose with no sucess. I do not have a diagnostic code showing any problem. So, I think that the vent actuator must be bad???
If so it appears that the dash must come out to do a replacement. Is this a project for the "somewhat back yard enthusiast/mechanic" to try to attempt?
My contact with the local Corvette dealership does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling that they have a clue!
behind the passenger foot kick panel (under the glovebox) is where the vacuum line goes through the firewall, it has a connection there and you can disconnect it and suck on the hose with your mouth to provide vaccuum to test what your problem is. with mine the vacuum line going to the back of intake wasn't connected.

Tomorrow the kick panel will come out and I will check the vacuum per your suggestion. Hopefully that will solve the problem as I really don't want to tear that deeply into the dash.
Ever have the battery leak? Mine did but didn't find out til after I bought it. Did the same thing and the vaccum line under the battery tray had the acid eat through it. Same line you will be checking in the footwell. More then likely your problem if it's connected at the manifold.
I've had the same problem for a year since I got the car...I had extended warranty..took it in and dealer techs couldnt figure it out..If you figure it out can you please re-post the results or pm me please...thanks...paully
I had the exact same problem, it was a vacuum leak right where the line passes through the firewall (beneath the battery). Dealer charged me $200 for the repair and it was well worth it. You'll be surprised at the increase in air flow through the dash vents once it's working properly.
Anybody have a picture of the vacuum hose under the battery box? I have everything apart and can't find the vacuum hose on my 99. Also, have the passenger kick panel off and don't see it!
That tiny little vacuum line is comingled with a bunch of electrical wires and wrapped-up. Does not appear to be any damage from leaky batteries or rubbing. So dealership here I come.
I would try to find a reputable performance shop that works on Vettes unless you have the warranty on it. I know down here the dealers rape you whenever they can.
I gave up the search myself for the elusive vacuum hose and turned the car over to my friendly GM repair guy. He finally found the remains of the hose, melted into a non-recognizable mass, replace it then found that the valve in the kick panel was terminally cracked. All is now replaced, the A/C works great and I am only out $197.

Happended to me too and my car had the battery leak. Was at ECS getting soemething else done and they pulled the hose to see if they could unclog it and ended up just finding it easier to replace it.

Thanks for the replies to my post
Outstanding! Glad you got it straightened out at a reasonable cost.
