Default Jet Siphon Pump???

Well I read all threads regarding the jet siphon pump becoming clogged. I have an 02 with just under 25k miles and already have this issue. Always getting the P1431 code

I removed the pass side fuel sender and the orifice was in fact clogged. I'm not sure what was lodged in there but compressed air didn't do the job. I ended up driving out the obstruction with a small needle.

I put everything back together and I go get a fill up at shell. For the first time ever since the problem the gauge reads past 1/2! I'm totally relieved and the gauge read properly all the way to E. One problem free fill up is all I got.

Next time I fill up and a few days later when I near the 1/2 mark, bam, the gauge trips off and P1431 comes up again

I clear the code the and the gauge seems to begin working again reading a little below a 1/2 tank, which it never did prior to cleaning the siphon pump. So this time around the P1431 codes are becoming less frequent. Long story short, I almost most ended up stranded along side of the road.

So I'm thinking what happened? Did the siphon pump become obstructed again already!? Any ideas?

Does anyone know the part number for the complete sending unit for the pass side for an 02 ?

Hey geno, forgot to mention the second part on my replacement. Before putting in the replacement, I had sediment in the bottom of the tank. I quick swipe with the wet/dry vac took care of the crap at the bottom of the tank. Also, I had to get a firmware flash after installing the sender. Dealership did it for free.
Someone should be able to chime in with the part number(s). I just called vette2vette with model year and build date (if known, not necessary) and got a direct replacement.
Oh, did your sender have filters attached or just metal screens? I had metal screens over the intakes.
Good luck; it's a vexing problem, to be sure.

My jet pump didn't have the filter socks on either, just the mesh screens. Seems the filter socks would have done a much better job in preventing the less than 1/16" orifice from becoming clogged. Those screens are no where near small enough mesh to filter anything that small.
What a design...

When I open it up again this time I'll be sure to look closely over the inside of the tank for any foreign material, but looked clean as a whistle as I can remember.

Hi Guys !

Does anyone know the vendor, part number or a source to purchase the jet pump unit itself ? (not the entire sending unit assy xxx5126 - just the plastic venturi section and clamps alone)

My parts manager at GM dealer told me that AC Delco won't provide sub-vendor contact info if he or I contact them.

I'm doing a custom tank project and want to buy some of the jet pumps for a street/track truck.

Thanks !!!

Jim
