Default 4 post lift

Just bought a Danmar D-7 lift for the garage.

Any pointers or suggestions on a trouble free installation?

I guess nobody has one of these lifts.

I need to extend my garage tracks to raise the door. I heard ther is a kit that you can get. has anybody bought or installed one of these?

Garage door track extensions should be available from any local garage door vendor. You might even find some scrap sections from a vendor depending on how much you need.

It's just an added section of the straight track sandwiched in between the original straight and curved sections. You'll probably also have to alter the mounting of your garage door lift motor and/or the track that attaches to the door and its mounting point.

As far as installing your lift, you should be completely familiar with the installation directions, insure you have all of the parts before you begin, be patient, hopefully have someone to help you. The runways, cross members and columns can be heavy. Lube/adjust/tighten everything per instructions. Double check everything before you stand beneath it with your pride and joy on top of it. Most lift "failures" are due to human operator error. Monthly re-check and re-lube depending on use, dust, etc.

I don't have a DANMAR, I currently have a BEND PAK. I seem to recall a few who decided to use a DANMAR lift, so maybe one will answer.

You could also use search or search this forum (in the red banner) in C5 General and C5 Tech to find past threads. Use keywords "four post lift", "shop lift", "danmar lift", "hobby lift", etc to find those threads. Someone asks about lifts on a regular basis so there's plenty to research.

Most people with four post lifts do not anchor them to the concrete (4" of fully cured 3000 psi is minimum). But that depends on the manufacturers recommendations and the size of the column pads. Of the two four post lifts I've had, neither were anchored because I had the caster kits allowing me to maneuver them around where I wanted within my shops.

Put your track extensions on the bottom unless you want to do it twice trust me I know from experience. Here is some info. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...installed.html

The lift came in today. I still need to extend my garage tracks. maybe I can get that all done this weekend.

Did the search. Lots of information spread out and hard to find what I want to know.

Thanks for the help. I think I know what I need to do.
