I just bought my wife an 01 for a daily driver, it has beautiful polished chrome rims and Kumhos on it. I live in the Chicago burbs, so we get a bit of weather up here in the winter, and in order to keep those chromies shiny, I'm looking to buy a set of winter wheels and all-season tires for it.
Probably just be looking for stock wheels (although I REALLY want a set of black ones), any suggestions on where to find some?
Also...need rec's on what to get for tires. Her commute is only 2 miles, so on lighter snow days, no problem. Heavier snow days and she'll be driving my F350 4X4.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (All Season) are one of the 'winter' tires recommended by Consumer Reports. I have them, but don't drive my C5 in the winter. JW Motoring, a supporting vendor offers black wheels for around $700, plus or minus, shipped.

Thanks Jovette. Sommer send me a Pm with your requirements. I can get you set up with some wheels. We have several for less than $650 shipped in black.
I would never drive a C5 in the winter regardless of tire brand or light snow!!!!
Believe me from my past experience, it will be a “white knuckle drive” all the way there, granted it’s only 2 miles but with our Illinois winters, 2 miles turns into a 2 hr drive.
These cars are way too low and have way too much torque.
If you absolutely have no choice, then do yourselves a favor and buy an actual WINTER tire – if you could find them in C5 sizes that is.
I absolutely love Pirelli Snow Sport – I think that’s what they are called.
Have used them for a couple of years now on an 08 Lancer.
The factory Dunlops that came with the car are sh*t for the winter.

Get a set of used wagon wheels, have them powdercoated black, then put on a good set of winter tires - the Michelin's are good or you could try the Goodyear winter tires for the car.

I agree. While it's not so bad here in central IL, I know it gets pretty bad near Chicago, as my cousin works in Chicago.
Are you sure you want to do this? It can be risky.
