Default C6 Z06 Shifter problems

I have replaced my 04 Z06 Shifter with an 08 C6 Z06 shifter. I really like the way the new shifter works, HOWEVER, I do seem to have a problem since the replacement. Occasionally I can't get the shifter to go into the 1st/2nd part of the gate pattern. ie It ONLY wants to go into 3rd or 4th, so you really can't get moving from a stop. This has only happened twice, from a stop both times. Originally I thought that I had a misaligned shifter (so I rechecked it), but on second thought, I think I may have a malfunctioning CAGS relay???
Can anyone who has replaced a shifter, OR who has had trouble getting their shifter into 1st and 2nd (and FIXED it) please let me know their thoughts and opinions on this?

Thanks,

I had a similar problem.

Before, it would only go into 3rd/4th. I also noticed that when I had the shifter in, what I thought, was 1st, I could wiggle it left and right. It was like it was in neutral.
My solution was to undue the 3 #40 Torx and push the shifter box as far towards the rear of the car as possible. I then re-tightened them, and now I get into 1st, without issues.

It would always only go into 3rd, when trying to put it into 1st.

Hope that helps.
