Default New guy... counting down the days.

So I just thought I'd go ahead and drop in. I graduated college two years ago, and I'm in the real world now. I work in sales, and have been breaking even as far as my bank account lately. Ever since I can remember a Corvette is the car I want. And the C5 Z06 is just perfect. All that performance for that price tag... My last car was an RX8, and my current car is the MazdaSpeed3. And you are telling me I can have a car with twice as much kick as the torquey Speed3, that handles almost as well as the RX8?? Sign me up.

A coworker walked by my desk yesterday, and saw me looking at this forum. He said, "Still livin that Corvette dream huh?". So that's where the name is from. Also, in order to afford this little dream, I just got a 2nd job at a certain Used Car Superstore. (wink wink). So that little extra pad in my wallet plus hopefully a nice discount on a passing vette will help me out.

Just thought I'd stop by and introduce myself! Hopefully I will be seeing you guys on the road soon.... not driving a Mazda.

It'll be weird to drive a car with something called torque

The rx-8 (unless it was given to you), isn't a super cheap car, not too far from used mid mileage z06 territory, especially in todays market.

You might be a lot closer to a nice z before you know it!

The RX8 i bought used and got a good deal on. The resale value is TERRIBLE and I took advantage. I bought my MS3 New and am about $5,000 away from paying it off. I am somewhat anxious to get rid of it before the 2010 Speed 3's are released because I'm not sure how negatively that will affect the value.

Road and Track reviewed the RX8
Skidpad .88g R&T Comment: Moderate Understeer

C5 Z06 is over 1g. I think your estimates on the RX8 handling may be a bit off.

Write us up a little personal comparo when you get the Z.

Work hard, and save you will get closer sooner than you think. I bought my first corvette while I was still working at McDonald's and a Call Center...

I will be glad to. I have actually never driven the Z06. I have read all of the numbers but driving the RX8 in pretty mindblowing in that respect. It felt like I could use it to perform brain surgery it was so precise.

Im in the same boat you are. Havent always dreamed of a vette becuz I always thought id never be able to own one. I am growing tired of the import scene and growing addicted of the V8 rumble and I want torque as well! I am coming from a pretty heavily modded Evo VIII but I cant wait to get into a Z06 like you man!

Welcome to the CF. I had a fun run with a RX8 through some tight corners and straights. He stayed pretty close through the corners but when we hit the straights he was left quickly. I was surprised how well he kept it together in the corners and staying fairly close to me. Good luck with the search for the Vette.

Welcome and best of luck finding the C5Z that is right for you. You will find it a world of difference from the RX8.
