Hey all,
Ive been meaning to get around on my day off and see how much (ballpark) it would cost to get the front fascia repainted.
She's got alot of tiny specs, which when the car is clean looks really bad.
Does anyone have an idea on price (either US $ or CDN $), id take it off myself and just bring the shop the piece to save on cost/time.

I was charged $400.00 when I had the 98 front painted. The only trouble was the front started showing chips much faster after the repaint. So much so that I wished I'd have just left it alone.
I've had this done twice basically. It cost US$400-600. Mine cost about 500 each time. One time it was with the bumper left on the car and the other time the bumpers were being swapped so it was off the car to begin with.
If you use the car every day and think it will just get the same problem then look into some touch up paint or something. It doesn't make sense to paint it to have the same problem a couple years down the road again. If it's something you can't live with and have the money then go for it. Bring it in somewhere and ask them what it needs, maybe they can clean it and touch it up for cheaper then a whole paint job.
good luck.
Clayton, I went to a GM dealer here in Ontario last summer and got a quote on what it would cost for me to get my hood and front fascia repainted and they told me $1100 Canadian, including tax (which is 13% when you add the GST and PST in Ontario). Dealers usually charge more than an independent body shop, however I'd trust the dealer to do a better job as I've seen a lot of really good stuff that has come out of dealer body shops around here. For instance, I once traded in a 94 Grand Am GT on a new 95 Trans Am, but the Grand Am that I gave them had a ton of stone chips on the hood. A few weeks later when I drove by the dealer and saw my old Grand Am on their lot, I noticed they repainted the hood and it looked perfect! You would never know it was repainted, the color (aqua green) matched perfectly and there were no runs or massive orange peel either.
Hi There:
I just had mine done on 6/29/09.I had this done to remove scratches on the bottom of the fascia & just below the brake air inlets, which were visable. They did it the correct way by removing the bumper & painting in a dust free environment. They didn,t jack up the car to remove the bumper.(The b/ tech laid on his back). 2 day job cost $500 really nice job, paint matches perfect with the t/red hood.BTW: those little specs. are still there just not as many as before. Body seam alignment is perfect on both sides & no scratch marks from the installation.Tip: Have a new emblem installed & do not re-use the old one($84 for a new one body shop price). E-bay has a better price.GM shop did mine but I personally know the painter & the quality of his work speaks for itself.(38 years exp.)
