Just washed my rims and noticed this....see 2nd pic
First pic is a new not driven on rim, second is on one driven 4 times..
Front barrel, (not driven on)
Rear barrel, (driven on 4 times) spots are raised, I can feel them I've had MANY sets of rims with chrome inners and NEVER saw this before... Any ideas?
What would cause this?
Its a rear wheel, and my brake pads are 4 yrs old, so there's no brake dust, plus they got wiped down after every drive, with a micro fiber towel and diluted car wash Z7...
I got these mid May, don't live near the shore, so no salt, no harsh chemicals etc..
Always washed & dried fully after each use.....
Front of the rims, center & outer lips are 100% perfect..

Well, I paid $2000 for these to get done..
Black chrome centers, & chrome outer lips & inner barrels....
There is a 4 yr warranty on pitting & peeling..
But to have THIS after 4 drives?
I am FANATICAL about my rims and the care of them!
After 15 sets of chrome rims, most with chromed inners, I've NEVER experienced this..
I guess I will contact the chroming firm in the morning......
Bought some ADR brand wheels for my pickup a couple of years ago. After about 6 months they started looking just like yours. Now the chrome is peeling off in sheets. Tire shop says they won't warrent them.

Pitting can be caused by a variety of issues from brake dust, dirt, salt or a variety of other things that come into contact with the finish. If you say you wiped the wheels off as soon as you got home I would probably rule this out.
The other cause would be incorrect prep work before the chrome finish was done. I would call calichrome in the morning and ask about this and see what they are willing to do to correct this misfortune on such a price paid for their service.

[QUOTE=J.P.M.;1570921584]Some finishers dont worry so much on the inner barrels as much as the outer centers or lips. This could be where the problem started.
From a fly-by-nite maybe, but not a reputable company.....Sure they'll fix it....(Maybe it was a Monday morning or Friday afternoon job.....)
GL on the best rims ever...

check and make sure your calipers arent leaking. im not really too sure of the effects of brake fluid on chrome, but i know its extremely corrosive stuff. just an idea.

I have seen this before and it looks like the job wasn't done correctly, I would take them back quick because it is only going to get worse, Before you know it will be on the face of the wheels.
