Default Anyone skipping FunFest?

Im skipping the Mid-America Corvette Funfest this year.
Ive been going for at least 5 years now. They want to charge
25 dollars now to park. Its supposed to be a Free customer appreciation
show. The key word here is free. Now he wants to charge all of
his loyal customers 25 dollars to park. By the time you add up the
cost of gas, hotel room, breakfast lunch and dinner it gets
very expensive. Plus an extra 25 dollars. We have made Mike Yeagar
a millionaire buying his shirts, hats, exhausts, etc... So now he wants
an extra 25 dollars. Really besides a nice drive there is really
nothing there. The last concerts were bad. REO Speedwagon
was horrible. I hope everyone stays home this year. Its just the
whole point of charging his customers for what is supposed to
be a free show. I cant beleive he wants to say thank you by
charging us 25 dollars to park and buy his merchandise.

Was going to skip it,,but some friends are going,,so we are going to give it one more try. May very well be our last one though!!! Called in my order,,and let them know how we felt about it,,,like they really give a $hit what WE think!! See how it goes. Well the trip is wort it if we stop a Neimerg's Family Restaurant!! That place is GREAT!!! Good home style cooking at close to McDonalds prices!!! We'll be stopping there on the way in!!

Funfest I find is a waste of time. I'd rather spend my time and money on Carlisle. More to do and see. Have gone every year for about 15 yrs now and still have a blast. IMO

I haven't gone since about 2002. Won't be going again this year. If they would expand it to more vendors, it might be a better event, but I guess that might cost MAM some sales.

Sure would, there prices are too high on most items. I'm a vette junkie and never order from them. I can almost always find stuff significantly cheaper than MAM.
I was supposed to attend last year but something came up. Wanted to attend this year for the first time but I already had a bad taste in my mouth from MAM and now a cover????
If I can push my Vette morals aside for a day I might attend under protest.

This is probably why he's had to start charging. It started out as a customer appreciation party, but I wonder how many people who do not purchase from MAM took advantage of the hospitality over the years.

I've gone every year since '98 and we usually have about 30+ cars from our Club turnout.
Personally, $25 per car (up to 2 people) doesn't bother me. I usually take two cars, so it will cost me $50. I get $50 worth of enjoyment out of just being there. I only live 70 miles from them, but we still get a room (and pay the jacked-up rates) and we usually enjoy ourselves immensely. This year's entertainment is SURVIVOR...not the most popular group around, but should still make for a fun evening, and it's included in the price.
I buy a lot of my stuff from them because I know Mike, and usually have good service from them. I don't buy everything, because there are things they don't have or are just too far off the price. However, I still consider them a "local" small business, and try to support them, because I know that the economy has hurt them, too.

You and many, many others already buy from MAM and now they'll get another $375,000 just for parking cars for "Customer Appreciation"? But what the heck, it's only money.

Mid-America is not getting another dime from me anymore.
Sticking their customers 25 dollars to park, thats really
some customer appreciation.

We were going to do this, but $$$$$$.
If you've ever done anything with Corvettes in Bowling Green, be prepared to do a lot of waiting....tours, dining, etc are usually very crowded, and the Hotels tend to gouge (like everywhere) when a large groupe is around.

1. Join the (Indiana) Caravan (2@$25) $50
2. Join the group at Indy going on the track (2@$10) $20
3. Register for festivities in BG (2@$15) $30 (technically a parking fee)
4. Hotel Room (3 nights @ $212/nite) $636
5. Tours/activities (2@ $25-$55/person x 2 days) $100-$220
6. Join NCM if you're not already a member $50

Total (not including gas/food) $886-$1006

We have been saving money for this trip since the `03 Caravan. Some of the costs listed - $20, $50, $25 - are trivial in my book. Go to Disneyland or Yellowstone for a two week vacation and you'll probably spend the same amount. This is a road trip I have looked forward to for 6 years, I'm not going to miss it because gas is higher or lodging costs are inflated.

Would I go to Fun Fest? Yes, but I'm only allowed one 6000 mile round-trip every 5 or 6 years.

Its not just the 25 dollar parking fee, its the whole principal of the
thing. Mike Yeagar has become a multi-millionaire off of his loyal
customers buying his over priced crap. So this is how he re-pays
his loyal customers who buy his products is by charging them
25 dollars to park on his field. Talk about biting the hand that feeds
you. And the last concerts have been bad. REO Speedwagon was
horrible. I wouldnt walk across the street to see Survivor they have
1 original member left and had 2 good songs. Im sick of Eye Of the
Tiger. Boring....
