Default Console lid

Is it normal that the console door only opens a very small amount? My C4 used to open fully while my new C5 barely opens enough to get my hand in there. I don't want to force it, especially if that is normal.

It's a two part hinge. You need to lift up and towards you on the second hinge. Open it a little bit, then spray some WD40 on the hinge. With it lubricated it will move freely. This happens all the time. It may seem like you are going to break it the first time, but it should open to full vertical.

I bet I had mine 1 or 2 months before I found this out. I was scared I was going to break it.

Took me about a month and half...i kept looking at it saying that is the dumbest design. I was like what is stopping it...nothing. Pulled towards me some and it poped up and out.

Remember to lube it up with WD40 and you can move it with one finger all the way up.

Go ahead and pull up with a little more effort - it will come up to a 90 degree position.
