Default Under hood lightbulb question

When ever I open the hood on my car the light stays on for 15 mins. Is there anyway to change the time it stays on. I don't want to take the bulb out because it would'nt look right. Thanks for any help.

You can unplug the light near the front of the hood.

As stated you can either unplug it as needed (follow the wire down to the passenger side of the car near the radiator - there is a connection there that is easy to unplub). Another option is to put a toggle switch in that will allow you to turn the light off without unplugging (several of the corvette parts vendors have this switch or you can wire one yourself fairly easily).

Why would you want to shorten the time?

Probably for car shows and such. Save the battery.

Car shows are the reason for most and when the light finally goes out after 15 min,if you walk near the car with your keys it comes back on. Good idea about the switch.

Thanks for the help, I think I will go with the switch. And yes the reason is for car shows, sometimes it ends up on for an hour or more.

You don't have to worry about it for car shows as it goes out after 15 minutes so the battery won't run down. I do more car shows than most and it's just not a problem.

Everytime you open the door or rear hatch it comes back on. I keep my cooler in the car to keep it out of the sun, so it goes on every time.

I do not understand your response here. It is a simple question that is not that big a deal. If it bothers you so much why did you even read and then respond?
Just because something is not important to you does not mean it should not be for others.

I do as many shows as anyone and it is a PITA to have to watch your light stay on every time you need to open the vette.

I don't have to worry about it much since I got the TS hood and have no light

Whichever way you decide but unplugging it is no big deal:thumbs

No way to change the delay time that I know of, but it is very simple to just disconnect the plug in down near the radiator on the passenger side.

At car shws my ice chest is out of the car where I am with my folding chairs. My hatch is open throughout the show to see my mat so it's no factor for me.

Mine was unplugged when I bought it and I've never plugged it in. I probably should just to see if it works.

It takes like 2 seconds to just reach in there and unplug the connector...
