Painting the carpet is a good way.. pretty cheap and durable... you could also look in the for sales for carpet. Ill be painting mine next moth hopefully, ill let you know how it turns out.
what about the lower doors, they are tan and the lower area of the dash by your knees, basicly everything from the halfway point down is light oak, wanna go black or red

Never did this to a Vette, but I dyed my carpet and headliner in my 79 Malibu. I used a spray bottle that I got at Lowes for a few bucks but it had a good spray pattern so the dye went down evenly. I let it dry overnight and reinstalled it. It had not faded out when I sold it two years ago, and I did it about two years before I sold it. The interior was an original burgundy color and I went back with a dark red due to the dash and door panels being red also. May be able to try this method under a seat to see how it looks and if it will actually hold the color.
I also had the carpet out and on the garage floor when I did this.
I changed out my interior in a similar fashion. my Z06 had an all-black interior but I wanted the black/tan combo. I found a guy here on the forum (rcs128, good guy!) who had just swapped from black/tan to all black, so I purchased all his old interior stuff, carpet included. Installed it all, and then sold off all my removed black parts for within $5 of what I paid for the new stuff. Very affordable way to swap an interior!
Only thing I paid extra for was seats, since I converted to sport seats and went with custom skins, instead of stock stuff.

That sounds like the way to go, I assume all the light oak parts come out, no paint for my carpet though, I will just get new or close to it, I should go ahead and do that insulation sound deadner in her at the same time I have it all ripped apart, there was some vender on here selling some sweet new seat covers.

Yup, all the interior pieces come out very easily. Between standard metric sockets and a few assorted torx drivers, you can pretty much disassemble the entire interior, save for removing the steering wheel. It's all very easy once you find out where the attach points are; I think by now I can remove my interior in about 30 minutes. I would only recommend that you have all the new parts on-hand before removing and selling your old parts; that way you don't end up with an incomplete interior while waiting for more parts to come up for sale.
If you go through with this, post up some before / after pics! We like pictures.
