The Corvette has 1 important factor over the cars above and that is the WOW factor. Something the EVO's, Subaru will never have.

You do realize that, that is all relative right?

I like the package...it's a freakin' beautiful car....no matter it's faults.
The gorgeous pictures I take of my car just wouldn't be the same if a boxy Evo or Suby was within the frame. I don't give a crap if some foreign metal can outrun me......I'm totally enjoying what I have.
Mid life crisis? Kiss my ***. I don't make personal judgments about you based on what you drive. I expect reciprocity. I do however make judgments based upon how you act in whatever you choose to drive.
Wow, pretty upset are we?

Even the mighty V6 Supras can't tackle that feat, no matter how big the turbo.
I've yet to see a V6 Supra.

All I said was there are some fast 4cylinders out there and that the S2000 "could" be at 650rwhp. That's it...
Not sure what you could have possibly read that made you reply like that
Again, you are also blowing it way out of proportion. There is nothing wrong with enjoying or respecting other cars out there. The Corvette isn't the only car to drive, it's just one of the better ones in our minds.
Im not sure why so many of you guys are taking this topic so personally. It's funny that the second someone mentions something like this there are a handful of people that act like you just insulted their firstborn child. Especially when all that was said was, yes...it's possible. The original poster simply asked if it was possible for a 650rwhp S2000. Some of us know it's possible and just answered him. How in the world some of you guys feel you have to step in and act so insulted and defend your honor is beyond me.
Try to relax a little bit...
Word. It is so hilarious how so many Corvette people get their panties in a not because people like other cars. Hopefully his pacemaker is functioning correctly as he reads this thread.
Alex, that doesn't compute. If that was true we would be seeing a lot of single turbo LS1 Vettes pushing 700 to 800 HP. I've read enough on these boards to know it ain't that easy and we're working with 8 cyliners and twice the displacement...

a little more than average atmosperic pressure (14.7 psi) will double hp on a turbo car.
Whenever I see comments like what I see in here, it makes me glad that I am a REAL car guy that can appreciate more than one brand or model of car. Calling that S2000 rice is beyond hypocritical when that car has 600+ Hp and the exact mods that 95% of the C5s in this forum have (lowered a bit, stainless exhaust, rims, sound familiar????) I am not particularly into S2000s but if I see a tastefully modded one that is putting down major HP, how is that a bad thing?
Got a buddy with a turbo'ed S2K with 650+ rwhp and it will rip the skin off your face accelerating in any gear. He's running the stock bottom end with no issues and he pounds on it constantly - thing is built to survive a nuclear blast. It's miniscule inside though.
I think that car has very clean lines and looks great.

Incorrect, it's all about the turbo size aka amount of air it can push. If that were the case people with turbo cars wouldn't spend money upgrading because it would net them the same result....
S2000s aren't my thing(I don't like verts and I really don't like 4 cylinders lol) but that thing is hot. It looks clean as hell and it's making some legit power, give respect where it's due guys...
I DO appreciate other cars and brands, that's not what I was saying and all of my last post was NOT directed at any one person, just a general overview.....talk about panties in a wad.....
I was not attacking any one person, I just tire of the stereotypes including the term "ricer" and what people think their car represents in them. I may like your car no matter what you drive, but I love my Corvette....for me.
having owned an s2k for three yrs and driven a few vettes, they are strangely similar in their handling. the s2k is more fickle, but they handle very similar. its like a vette JR....
they can make a lot of power with turbo, but they still have a less than desirable powerband. and even with boost, no torque.
I do appreciate the s2000 for what it is, just like I appreciate the Miata.
Several co-workers have their s2000 supercharged, and I'm sure they're fun to drive.
But I'm not a convertible guy at all, and at 6'3 those cars aren't even an option.

My dad has a Solstice GXP... He's 5'6", and I'm 5'7". At that height, it's fine for him because he likes to sit close on stick shift cars. For me, I have to put the seat ALL THE WAY BACK, because I don't like to sit close to the wheel. I'd say if you're 5'9" or taller, the GXP is too small of a car too.
Corvettes are definitely OK for anyone up to 6'5" (aside from getting in and out of course).
I have a couple friends that are beyond 6'5" and they can sit in the driver's seat of my z06, but getting out is almost impossible.
well ii have driven both cars as i own a Z06 with a few basic mods and my brother has a S2000 that we supercharged. All i can say is that they are 2 different cars the S2000 handles real good because of its size but it loses traction in the rear at times. Over all i like both cars but they are different to drive specially on a road coarse but no matter waht i still love my Z06
a lot of you dudes dont seem to understand turbo cars. a t25 at 20psi and a gt42r at 20psi are NOT the same thing.
that said, i call total bs on 650whp in this thing. it's still a 2 liter. even if revved out to 9k rpm i am not buying it. on the stock internals of a high compression cast piston engine no less. total bs.
and with a single turbo big enough to make 650whp on a 2 liter you end up with a terrible powerband.
the corvette has retarded torque eerywhere from the get go so adding turbos couldnt hurt it really, unlike with 4 bangers. 650whp out of that s2000.... on pump gas? nah, i dont think so.
i come from a background of turbo 4 bangers and i6, but there really is no replacement for displacement.

A nice car is a nice car, regardless of Make. I would like my C5 to have 600+ HP/TQ. That would be SWEET! Maybe one day..
I have had a 06 Corvette, 07 Corvette and now a 02 Convertible vette.
I also owned a 07 S2000- the S is fun and great high end-low end is weak. But it is an awesome little machine- that takes the vette everyday on the corners. But it is small!
You drive a S-you cruise in a Vette! I am at cruising age now!
I beg the question of drivability. A C5 putting 475 RWHP down, and an S2000 putting down comprable numbers-torque included, will find the S2000 owner spending more time working on the car than driving it- While a C5 will remain drivable and reliable at this stage. In fact, there are several DDs on this forum beyond that point.
An S2000 CAN be modded well over this point-true. So can a Focus. But how drivable will they be?
I like the lines of the S2000. I find the lines of the C5 the more aesthetically pleasing of the two. But this is subjective.
Alex- I am once again impressed with your knowledge of sports cars. I believe comparing a C5 and Supra would be a more evenly matched debate.

Well, even a Supra is not comparable though. Really they are not the same class of cars.
A good comparison of cars would be something like the S2000 vs Boxster.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
