Default buying a vette

Hello everyone I'm looking at a 2001 Vette with 83000 mile. It has a 6 speed trans and Z51 suspention. Is there anything I should be looking for as the miles seem high. The price is $16,000.00.
thanks

Certain 01 and 02 models have been known to have excessive oil consumption, hard to believe one with that many miles would have that problem but it doesn't hurt to look into it.

Exactly...and piston slapping. Dont worry about the higher miles...as long as regular maintenace was maintained. When you do buy it, change all the fluids (you will get a flood of what ones to use), and go through the DIC and see if there are any codes which might alert you to C=current or H=History...there are lots of threads on this too...but knowing what has or is going wrong can help the decision.

Speaking of decision, let us know what one you make...I have an 01' and dont have the excessive oil consumption or piston slapping...but it does happen in models of those years.

Good luck with your purchase. I have some Word files, including a Buyers Checklist that may help you out. If you would like a copy, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
