Randy Newman is short himself... 
My ex wife is only 5'3"... most of our married life together (almost 20 years!
) I always said, "My second wife is going to be tall so I don't have to slide this dang seat back all the time!!" 
Of course, I didn't have a Vette then! Now, amazingly enough, my second wife is indeed taller!! 5'10"!

My wife is also 5'-0". Short torso and long legs make it easy to reach the pedals but hard to see where she's going. I had a matching cushion custom made to fit the seat, but now that I'm reupholstering, I'm also adding carpet underneath the seat foam to diminish the "settling of the foam into the wire spring frame, and adding a 2" polyester foam pad on top of the carpet. It'll be a little higher than I like when I drive, but it's HER Vette! I will also add 1/2" spacers between the seat and the seat frame and a couple of washers betwwen the seat frame and the floor.
